The Prince2 practitioner exam is meant to measure the knowledge and skills required to be a member of the Canadian College of Psychiatrists. While it may seem obvious that you should only hire people who have had previous experience with the curriculum, many people who want to prepare for the exam don’t fully understand what they are getting into. This is understandable because so much is at stake here, especially if you choose to hire someone to do your exam.

The Professional Code of Conduct outlines the ways in which those who are licensed to practice psychiatry can behave when participating in the Prince2 Practitioner exam. This section states that any medical professional or member of the public who questions, doubts, threatens, or abuses the patient-provider relationship in the course of a physical or mental health care situation is breaking the code. A portion of the code specifically refers to professionals who are being tested for their suitability to practice as a mental health care professional:
One provision states that any abuse, manipulation, intimidation, or coercion of a patient is considered an abuse of the practice of psychiatry. In other words, if a psychiatrist denies a patient treatment, breaks a promise, inflicts pain, or does other things to the patient, that is considered unethical.
So if you are thinking about taking the Prince2 Practitioner exam, there is a chance that you have been accused of misconduct by a former patient. If you are a member of the profession, you can’t be afraid to defend yourself, either by yourself or with a lawyer. However, if you are hiring someone to do your exam, you have to be concerned about what that person may think or say if you say something to them that they didn’t mean.
Some examples of what a former patient may think include: “You are horrible,” “If you were better behaved, you wouldn’t have any problems,” “This is no way to treat a patient,” “You shouldn’t even be in this position,” and “Don’t be too proud.” If you find that you have been accused of any of these, you should still find a lawyer. Someone who has spent time in the practice of medicine and has gone through the process of taking the practice test can offer you some relief and education.
If you are worried about your reputation, and you are a licensed psychiatrist, you can advocate good citizenship by taking the exam, especially if you are going to be “sitting on the fence” during the election of future members of the College of Psychiatrists. While being an active member of the organization is nice, it is important to stand up for what you believe in.
Being sure that you hire someone who is experienced and has taken the Prince2 Practitioner exam is important if you are in this situation. If you are a practicing psychiatrist, it is imperative that you take your time to do the proper research and prepare yourself before you hire someone to do your exam.
