That’s why I learned my lesson the hard way. There are no shortcuts to success in any arena. Sometimes that means you need to hire someone to do your Prince2 exam for you, because they have all the experience in the world.
If you were to take the course and learn by doing, I would highly recommend it. The way that the online course works is to come up with a topic and find a person who is already teaching that subject and then use them as a research base.
You may have a person that you have never met, but you can interview him/her and get the perspective and opinion that you need. This type of training makes a lot of sense.
But if you want to get the most benefit out of the process, I would hire someone to do your examination because they have the expertise in the field. It’s amazing how much a person can learn from sitting in front of the computer screen, typing away on the keyboard. But if you wanted to know the “real deal” of what they are talking about, you should spend the time learning from them.
The other thing that I found out while conducting my own Prince2 example is that the hands on exercises really don’t go anywhere, unless you have a good friend or colleague that has the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to do it. The other guy might not understand the topic, and there will be no chemistry there. That’s not to say that there aren’t some examples where the hands on practice is effective.
Hands on practice usually does work, if you know what you are doing. However, if you don’t, and you don’t have a partner to help you or if you don’t know where to start, then you are wasting your time.
So, what if you did a book study and didn’t even get to do the book study part? Well, you are going to have a blast learning from it, because the instructor, John, is so knowledgeable about every subject under the sun. You can get an e-book to assist you in learning, which I would suggest, but you don’t have to.
Have you ever had someone that offering you assistance at home and you went home with nothing? Then you learn that by doing nothing, you don’t actually learn anything. It doesn’t matter what it is that you are trying to learn, if you are just going to give up, there is not much benefit for you.
So instead of learning the same thing that he is, you can learn something new that you may have never thought of before, and that can only help you become a better person. The information is out there, just look for it.
Plus, by teaching others about it, you are having the fun of teaching yourself. It doesn’t matter whether you have a friend or a coworker to help you. You can go ahead and show them what you have learned by sharing it with them, and they can show you in return.
So the lesson learned is to take the initiative and learn. In the end, that is what it is all about, and that is the only way to get what you want out of life.
